Dr. Fletcher describes his experience of spending a year in Washington D.C. as a White House Fellow. He discusses the role of science in policymaking and addresses the question of how scientists can be effective in influencing decisions in government.

About the speaker
Dan Fletcher is a Professor of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley. His lab develops new instruments to study the cytoskeleton and its role in cell movement and shape change. Dr. Fletcher was a White House Fellow during the Bush to Obama transition.
